One of my clients recently had a case which I am explaining below and if you are stuck in such similar situation, here is what to do.
Note: Due to attorney-client privilege, I cannot disclose complete case details or identify the actual parties involved. However, I am sharing the essential facts and legal approach so that if you find yourself in a similar situation, you can understand the available solutions and legal remedies.
Mr.X, a college student from City A, needed to book flight tickets urgently. Through social media, he contacted Mr.Y who claimed to provide discounted airline tickets. Mr.Y asked for advance payment of Rs 25,000, promising immediate ticket confirmation. After Mr.X transferred the money, Mr.Y disappeared completely. No tickets were provided, and all communication channels were blocked. Mr.X immediately approached the cyber crime police station and filed a complaint. The investigating officer informed that they had marked a lien on the fraudster’s bank account, freezing the disputed amount. However, the recovery process requires proper legal documentation and follow-up procedures to ensure complete justice.

Recovery success rates vary based on how quickly the complaint was filed and whether funds are still available in fraudster accounts.
